Wow you truly keep the reader on their toes with this one. It all carries a thick atmosphere of melancholy and this part has found its way into one of my favs. The darkness gets thick at the end and unfortunately it did not end well for Grendel. Your words truly create some amazing images in my head. Vivid and full of wonder.

It’s one of my favourite settings 💛 I’m happy you enjoyed Grendel’s demise and that my little words can create anything in someone else’s mind is a huge compliment for me, omg

I am absolutely in love with your writing style. This part had a definite sinister undertone, and yet it still felt cohesive with the other parts. You write all of your characters so very well, in a way that sucks me into the story.

Love love love. I’m finally working on catching up!

Thank you 🥹 I’m always worried it’s too descriptive, thrilled to hear you liked the darker one, too!

Don’t worry 😂, it’ll be around for the entire year minimum, it’s not running away

I love this series, Asteria, and this one might be my favourite yet!

I also like that you didn't elaborate on what Grendel had/hadn't done, too often stories gives us readers more info than we need.

I have to ask though — do you know what he did, or is it a mystery even to you? 💜

I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it, thank you so much for taking the time 🥹

Personally, I think Grendel’s “thing he did” is best left to reader. Everyone has a different assumption what might have happened.

With that being said, to me, as a reader myself, Grendel stole the book from someone thinking it’s worth a lot of money because the previous owner treasured it highly. He pawned it in a pawnshop after, because it wasn’t worth much at all, and the book holds a grudge because Grendel could have simply returned it to the owner. By the time the book found its way back to the owner’s family, the owner had died and the book’s grudge intensified, hence ending up at the shop with “unfinished business”. Well, until it finally met Grendel again.

But that’s just my personal “reader assumption”, I tried to keep it vague enough for every reader to have their own ideas 💛

Wow, that's a hefty price to pay for stealing a book!

My reader assumption is that he took advantage of someone vulnerable, someone who maybe trusted him, perhaps letting them die when he could have helped them.

But it's honestly great that even you don't truly know. There's at least one of my stories where I don't quite know what happened 💜

I love stories like that! I might have read it already, there were so many I read from short shivers, I start to have a hard time telling them apart 😂

I like your assumption, Grendel definitely is the type to take advantage of someone vulnerable so it’s very possible
